At Tokyo Motorcycle Show 2010, Honda exhibited the PCX, a new type of 125 cc scooter released on March 30, 2010. The PCX is designed to meet diversifying needs in the market for smaller scooters, which are popular for their economy and convenience. In developing this new-generation 125cc scooter, Honda has emphasized “comfort” and “ease of use.” The PCX combines luxurious, advanced styling with power and environmental performance. The anti-idling system automatically stops the engine while you’re waiting at intersections or in traffic jams, improving mileage and reducing exhaust fumes. The PCX achieves 53 km/l, by using the latest PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel Injection)technology. In this way, it combines environmental performance with power at all speeds. The PCX is being manufactured by Thai Honda Manufacturing. It’s priced at 285,000 yen and Honda aims to sell 8,000 units annually in Japan.
