The Worst Fully-Funded Kickstarters

Kickstarter is a pretty cool idea, being used to fund all kinds of quirky and useful projects. Everyone from artists who want money for paints to to sculptors who are interested in making a giant Mustang emblem from CJ Pony Parts Mustang seats can head over to Kickstarter, make a video and ask for pledges from the public.
Of course, many of the more weird and wonderful ideas crash and burn, meeting their deadline without the required finds. But some of the projects have received full funding really do beggar belief! Check out these weird and wonderful fully funded Kickstarter projects.

Cheese Maps 

This is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. This Kickstarter looked for $1,000 to take high definition pictures of cheese and overlay them on maps of the word, corresponding to their origins. The images themselves are oddly compelling. It's just so unbelievably odd that it's surprising it not only met, but exceeded, its goal gaining $2,787 in funding. Some people must really love cheese.

The Bronies of NYC 

There's nothing particularly strange about the purpose of this Kickstarter. Raising $1,000 to make a documentary on adult fans of the children's show My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic, is only somewhat odd to some. What makes its $1,149 of pledges odd is the rewards that were offered for donations, including a phone call in which the filmmaker will sing the theme song of the show for $50 and a fan fiction written by the filmmaker for $250. It may well be that the filmmaker himself should be one of the subjects of the documentary.

The World's Largest Rainbow Parade 

Most people want their birthday to be special, but very few of us would expect internet strangers to pay for it. Not so Jessi Arrington of New York.
Having organized a rainbow parade for her birthday last year, she intends to do the same this time around and is asking for $1,500 to pay for the ‘essentials’ – that is a 20-piece marching band along with streamers, balloons and bubbles. Not only did she raise the essential $1,500, she also got an extra $2,340 which she will spend on a special surprise. It just goes to show you can get pretty much anything if you have the cheek to ask for it!
So, after looking at these successful Kickstarters, do you think you can do better?
