We’ve been pretty lucky this year. Not only has the Year of Luigi delivered a couple of great titles on Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo
3DS XL, but there have been Wii U smashes of all shapes and sizes too that have
challenged our senses and blown our minds.
But while we still have Mario & Luigi:
Dream Team Bros. to look forward to in the next few weeks, there’s no harm in
looking to the future. Here are five titles still left on the calendar worth
getting excited about.
DuckTales: Remastered
It’s a game some won’t know and others will have
forgotten about. For the rest of us though, DuckTales was a stone cold classic.
So, when Capcom announced it was planning a high-definition remake, there were
plenty of people who jumped for joy. DuckTales: Remastered looks slick and
promises gameplay just like the original, but with a few new tweaks thrown in
expect a ducking good time!
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist
There have yet to be any shooting games on Wii U
that have used the Splinter Cell brand, making Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell:
Blacklist a pretty eagerly-anticipated little number. Recent reports have
hinted at a compelling single-player story, as well as interesting use of
co-operative and multiplayer gameplay, so it sounds like it could be off to a
great start.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
Along with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between
Worlds on Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
HD will bring back a beloved franchise for the next generation of gamers who
have yet to get hooked on its fantasy adventure gameplay. If nothing else, it
will also tide us over until the brand new Zelda game arrives on Wii U next
year.
Super Mario 3D World
We’ve already had a couple of Super Mario games on Wii U (New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U).
However, this latest adventure takes things into the third dimension with
design cues from the awesome Super Mario 3D Land on Nintendo 3DS. Transparent
tubes, cat transformations and 4-player multiplayer make this one to keep a
close eye on.
Sonic Lost World
Apparently set to be the first of three Sonic
games exclusive to Nintendo platforms, Sonic Lost World is a 3D platform game
that looks to take the classic formula of the series and give it an exciting
new spin (no pun intended). Look out for it on Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo
3DS XL in 2013.
Of course, that isn’t all. You can probably
expect everything from party, pet and fashion games to shoot-em-ups, puzzlers
and adventure titles to be unveiled in the run up to Christmas. But for now,
2013 is still looking pretty amazing.
