Planck: The World's Smallest Phone SSD
With up to 2TB of storage, the Planck SSD is the "smallest phone-first" drive in the world, according to the manufacturer. It weighs only 10 grams and connects straight to the USB-C connection on your iPhone. Naturally, it may be used with other gadgets that feature a Type-C port, such as the iPad, MacBook, and others. With the iPhone 15 Pro and later, this device allows ProRes recording at 4K/120 and provides transmission rates of up to 1050 MB/s. Because of this, it is a fantastic choice for people who frequently film videos on their phones for personal or commercial purposes.
The Planck SSD isn’t the first portable SSD of its kind, though the brand claims it’s the smallest one out there. This drive is also drop-poof, IP65 water-resistant, and tough enough to accompany you on all your travels. It’s compact enough to fit in your pocket, and you can also comfortably record videos from your phone with one of these plugged into the USB-C port. The Planck SSD will be available in 1TB and 2TB capacities to add enough storage for up to 70 minutes of ProRes 4K60 or 45 minutes of ProRes 4K120 footage.

You can head to the Planck Kickstarter page right here to reserve your unit. The 1TB model can be had for $125, while the 2TB variant will cost you $199. You are essentially looking at up to a 34% discount as an early adopter. The brand has also debuted PlanckBank Hub, which is a USB-C hub to enable dual SSD connectivity with two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and a 4K HDMI output. It also supports PD charging up to 140W for smartphones, tablets, and laptops. This is, of course, a Kickstarter campaign, so we have no way of knowing if and when it will ship with any certainty. But we also have no good reason to believe it won’t. Be sure to check out the Kickstarter page for more details of the SSD and the USB-C hub.
